Celebrate independence and enjoy the good life in small town America
The Fourth of July is a time when small town America is on display in the finest tradition here in Coweta County.Our people love to show off the red, white and blue. They love to wave our glorious U.S. Flag. They love to celebrate with parades, great food, entertainment, fireworks, arts and crafts sales and all the other trappings of fun and fellowship that make small town life in this fast-growing community so attractive.
This is a wonderful place to call home, and that fact is evident during our towns' Fourth of July celebrations as much as any time of the year.
Public and private celebrations are scheduled throughout the county as we celebrate our nation's independence.
In Moreland, the Fourth (on Wednesday) starts early with the Pucket Station Festival beginning at 9 a.m. The community barbecue will start serving at 11 a.m. This is the biggest community event of the year in Moreland.
During the afternoon Wednesday the focus will shift to Newnan with the annual Fourth parade in the downtown area stepping off at 6 p.m. The parade ends at Newnan High School where the Newnan Rotary Club's traditional evening of family entertainment and fireworks closes out a busy holiday schedule.
There will be other public and private patriotic activities between now and the Fourth in our community. Enjoy all the activities. During our celebrations let's not forget our men and women in the military who are on duty serving to protect our freedom and spread that freedom to other people.
Have a glorious Fourth of July. Wave the flag and once again celebrate our independence which these United States of America has proudly proclaimed for 236 years.
