Dangers of the Internal Revenue Service
The IRS is un-Constitutionally powerful: they can seize assets at will, without limit or appeal. Most individuals and organizations are unable to defend against an IRS assault. An instantaneous decision by an IRS agent can take years and thousands of dollars for a taxpayer to resolve. IRS penalties make Shylock look like a humanitarian.
The IRS is the punisher, but the problem is the National Treasury Employees Union’s (representing 150,000 federal employees in 31 agencies) love of big government and hate of the TEA party.
January 2010, in a shocking Tea Party victory, Scott Brown won Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat. In March the NTEU president met with Obama in the White House. The next day the IRS started targeting Tea Party organizations - conservatives; religious leaders and other outspoken critics of big government.
In November 2010, Democrats suffered their worst mid-term defeats in 72 years. The Tea Party was energizing independents. Old-line Democrats and Republicans were losing control. The Tea Party must be stopped.
First we learned that the IRS was preventing conservative organizations getting tax exempt status critical for raising funds through two elections while expediting those for progressive organizations. Then we learn that the abuse includes intimidating audits of conservative donors, their families and friends.
Now we learn that the highest levels of the IRS knew of these abuses at least two years ago, and the highest levels of government knew about them one year ago but did nothing.
The political processes essential to the integrity and survival of our Constitutional Republic have been assaulted, yet responsible IRS managers claim ignorance or innocence. These are those who will administer ObamaCare that is already punishing political opponents and favoring political supporters.
It’s time to challenge the unionization of government workers already protected by Civil Service laws, and the inherent conflict of interest evidenced by the NTEU IRS abuses. We must assure that abuses are not being perpetrated in all agencies controlled by the NTEU and other unions.
It’s time to disband the IRS and implement The Fair Tax.
