Sound Off - Saturday, April 27

We need it: Dennis Thompson’s Letter to the Editor titled “We Need Social Security” is right on. Everyone is not a financial wizard. Thank God for Social Security.

..........................

No marshal law: The government always purchases massive amounts of ammo for military. Where are these “detention camps” being built by our government? Never heard of them, nor seen “demonization of Christians and patriot groups.” There’s no push to disarm us. So, no, I don’t think martial law is imminent.

..........................

No chance: Good luck trying to get a gun control constitutional amendment passed. Most states would never ratify such an amendment.

..........................

They don’t get it: Obviously, some people watch the news with little or no understanding. Where is the government trying to take all your guns? Trying to ban semi-automatic guns/high capacity magazines isn’t taking all your guns away. This silly argument has been around forever, yet there are more guns than ever.

..........................

Arcane rules: Actually a majority of senators did vote in favor of three versions of the gun bill. But arcane rules require 60 percent of the votes to pass. It is also true that 90% of Americans support universal background checks, which was defeated by a minority of the Senate. This is how the system works.

..........................

This is crazy: How is it we can spend $2.1 billion a year on free cell phones, which taxpayers are paying, and we cannot keep the air traffic controllers working to keep productive people able to fly and do their jobs on a timely basis and be safe?

..........................

Winston Skinner: Your article is a great memorial to Boomer. You have reflected how he affected everyone. He truly treated everyone equally and should serve as an example of how we need to conduct our own lives. Thank you for having the fortitude to speak with Boomer about his relationship with God. I have kicked myself for never personally making this effort. It is comforting to know his eternity will be spent with the Creator.

..........................

What bible? Could you please tell me what chapter and verse in the Bible states that Jesus is coming to show the “white” man that he does not rule or own the world? You have obviously not learned anything from reading the Bible, or maybe you read a different Bible.

..........................

Pure racism: Your post about Jesus coming to show the white man was utterly disgusting. If the word “white” had read “black” we would have had a nationwide uproar. What a blatant display of reverse racism that actually, I can’t believe this newspaper printed. I’m sure that this post won’t be printed.

..........................

Just more lies: Ever think the gun bill was defeated because the majority wanted it defeated? Just because Obama says majority, doesn’t make it so. Just more of his continuing lies that simpleminded people believe.

..........................

Seriously? Homosexual men going after young boys isn’t predatory? Quit lying to yourself.

..........................

Got to be kidding: FOX 5’s Amanda Davis’ retirement message was hollow, self-serving and atrocious. If we were arrested for DUI (repeat offender) and causing an accident with injury and then pled guilty, none of use would be given the stage to accept accolades and well-wishes from colleagues, friends and politicians.
