Tuesday is municipal election day in Georgia, but here in Coweta County, only three of our towns -- Senoia, Grantville and Sharpsburg --have contested races.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in these three towns, and registered voters there may cast ballots. There are no contested races in Newnan and Moreland, so those two towns will not be having elections. And of course residents of unincorporated Coweta County do not vote in municipal elections.
Here are the contested races:
-- Grantville: Two contested City Council races. Nick Sasso vs. Selma Coty and Rochelle Jabaley vs. Marion Cieslik.
-- Senoia: Three city council candidates, Larry Owens, Jeff Fisher and Harry Ramos, are running for two council seats. The two top vote getters will be the winners.
-- Sharpsburg: The mayor's race pits Wendall Staley against Polly Garlington.
Those are the only contested municipal races in Coweta County.
While early voting and requests for absentee ballots have been light, voter turnout is expected to be good in the three towns on Tuesday.
If you are a registered voter and live within the city limits of either Grantville, Senoia or Sharpsburg, we encourage you to cast a ballot on Tuesday. These are important times in each of these three growing communities. Important decision face public officials in each town. Go to the polls on Tuesday and cast your ballot for the candidate of your choice.

So pround of Sharpsburg. Going from always uncontested Mayor and Council post to a cliff-hanger with an excellent turn out! What a change.
