Big government is destroying America

News reports this week revealed that al-Qaeda detainees are receiving better medical care at Gitmo than thousands of wounded veterans are getting in some VA hospitals.

I couldn’t help but recall the letter writers in these pages who’ve assured us that Obamacare is going to be a good deal. If you want to know how the Big Government crowd views dissenting opinions, privacy or personal tastes, remember “Prohibition” or “IRS targeting” or “NSA spying.”

If you’re curious about what they think of responsibility, think “welfare,” “bailouts” or “free contraceptives.” If you want to know what they have in mind for cities, think “Detroit.” If you want to know what they envision for health care, think “Veterans Administration.”

If you don’t know where they stand on competition, innovation, choice, efficiency or accountability, think “Department of Motor Vehicles.” If you wonder what they plan for the country, think “Indian reservations.”

When will the apologists for Big Government muster the courage and integrity to fix the problems they’ve already created instead of foisting on us a boatload of new ones?
