I don’t understand
Why does the Executive Branch, past and present, disregard its oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution while Congress breaches its vow by ignoring these violations? State and federal legislators acting like 6-year-olds, not doing what’s best for their country but rather what’s best for their egos and wallets while campaign donors and lobbyists control the puppet strings.
Support for our wounded warriors not lasting as long as necessary. Our government ignoring a $17-plus trillion debt while continuing frivolous spending. Didn’t that cause the Great Recession?
Giving billions in foreign aid, yet reducing our armed forces to pre-WWII standards while many threats face our country. Iraq and Afghanistan wars when we’re clearly not wanted, and they will most likely revert to their old ways once we’re gone.
Foreign oil dependency — therefore supporting our enemies when undoubtedly there are alternatives, some more appealing. The Georgia legislature approving gun laws but not legalizing medical marijuana for children in need.
Why the Ten Commandments can’t replace most of our legislation and probably most lawyers and lawsuits. War after more than 5,000 years of “civilization.” Degrading a once superb educational system. Clerics violating children.
What happened to values and trust?
Why is lying OK for politicians, dignitaries, and virtually everyone else? Greed. Racism. Rudeness.
Why the three main Abrahamic religions tout peace and mercy, yet many causes for unrest in the world, past and present, are rooted in religion. Senseless killings, rapes, and beatings of infants, adolescents, spouses, and pets.
Cheating on taxes, entitlement programs, school enrollment, your significant other, employer, etc. Why, in the time since we’ve walked upright, are we not more civilized?
I don’t understand — with a bazillion hours of news and editorials, countless opinions by talking heads and experts on literally everything, thousands of politicians “looking out” for the “best interests” of their constituents and the country, and, of course, the Internet with nearly infinite sources of “accurate” information — why I don’t understand, but I do understand why I’ll keep trying.
