Shifting to the left

Around the world people celebrated the "Arab Spring.” It will take years to see the final results. The Internet, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc have changed the way people — especially those under 30 — communicate.

Times, they are a changing. Feel the ground move under your feet? That's your grandchildren moving to the left. They are not "Liberal" — just willing to change. They interact with individuals in the LGBT community on a daily basis. They recognize the absurdity of allowing alcohol and tobacco products to be legally sold while criminally punishing marijuana use. This will change as conservatives see the benefits of legalizing, regulating and taxing marijuana sale. It is no coincidence that the largest voice against legal pot is the Mexican drug cartel. Legalizing pot would dry up their market.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse —Bureau of Mortality Statistics — recently stated in its report, Annual American Deaths Caused by Drugs: tobacco/400,000; alcohol/100,000; all legal drugs/20,000; all illegal drugs/15,000; caffeine /2,000; aspirin /500; marijuana/0.

How many of you saw the original Obama interview on "Between the Palms”? How many of you had ever heard of the show? It must have scared Fox News as they vilified Obama for going on the show.

Ever since President Obama's election and reelection the conservatives have tried every tactic to derail, delay, defund and destroy anything he has proposed. Even going so far and wasting the House of Representative’s time and money offering over 50 votes to kill ObamaCare — knowing full well it would die in the Senate. How sad to see such wasted energy, effort and money trying to destroy a program that will prove as popular as Social Security.

It's time for the majority of people who call themselves Republican/Conservative to come out of the closet and admit/confess they are "Closet Bigots." Nothing else can explain the lies and endless attacks on Obama's birthplace or religion. Don't continue to be a hypocrite — be aware that you’re about to see a cosmic shift in American politics. All the laws to disenfranchise voters and gerrymandering can't stop the tide of history.
