Blame game time

It's an election year and we all know what that means — "The Blame Game.”

Why is funding for the Port of Savannah creating a storm of confusion? Because no money was allowed in President Obama’s budget.

Should state money be used to start a federal funding project? Tricky question that should be decided by the courts. Yes.

Well, what happens to the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA $12 Billion) that included the money for the Port of Savannah project? It was passed in May 2013 by the Senate, then sent to the House in October 2013. The House cut the WRDA to $8.5 billion and returned it to Senate, where for the past four months it has sat.

So why blame the president? Why are we not blaming Chambliss, Isakson — and do not leave out John Lewis, David Scott, Tom Price, Jack Kingston, Hank Johnson? In fact, why are we not blaming the entire congressional delegation from Georgia for not doing their job and passing the WRDA?

The WRDA contains corrective language that would change the spending gaps on the Savannah harbor expansion that was first authorized by Congress in 1999. And for seven years Congress has done nothing to reauthorized the WRDA.

But it's an election year!

So who do we blame?
