Government is not the answer

It seems as though a particular writer indicates that government is the answer for everything. Government is the problem, not the answer.

Without government's mandate, power plants would not be shutting down without effective replacement energy sources placing even further stress on the grid.

Without government, mandate for so-called clean fuels, ethanol in gasoline, would go away. It takes more energy, 12 pounds of corn, and thousands of gallons of water to produce one gallon of ethanol. For every acre of corn harvested for ethanol, that is one acre of corn less to feed a hungry world. In addition, bumping up the gasoline mix to 15% ethanol, my pristine low mileage 1995 car will probably need to be replaced to handle the fuel.

Without government taking the hard-earned pay of working individuals to give it to others — while some suffer due to misfortune, others are just lazy — that is less money I have to purchase that new vehicle I will need, not necessarily want.

Without government to keep order and keep us safe, we will fall into chaos. We, unfortunately, have an overly burdensome government who wants to be involved in every nook and cranny of our lives. We have a government that wants to support failed companies in the name of "green energy" while wanting more of my money to take care of the needy. We have a government that ignores the Constitution and continues to infringe on our rights.

I respectfully disagree with the Letter to the Editor. No, sir. Government is not the answer. The government, in its current form, with its current members, is the problem. Both party establishments.
