Thanks to Grantville

I would like to publicly express my thanks to the Grantville Utilities Department.

Grantville receives enough black eyes for the way things are done here, but recently during the snow and ice storm of Feb. 12 2014 the Utilities Dept. did an outstanding job keeping the power on for Grantville during some of the worst weather I have seen since 1994.

Even the Coweta/Fayette EMC could not keep power up and running. My wife’s house in Moreland lost power at 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday Feb. 12, and was not restored until Friday Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m. I understand that Coweta/Fayette has a far larger area to cover, but to be without power for 2 1/2 days with some very cold temperatures is not right. They had additional help from other out of state power companies. I know this as fact because I saw these power companies’ trucks in and around Newnan and Grantville.
