Sound Off

Death wish: To the driver with a death wish in the black Mercedes: You passed me on the narrow White Oak Creek bridge in a clearly marked “no passing” lane on Hwy. 54. I don’t particularly care if you kill yourself, but I don’t want to share that fate. FYI, I may have been pulling a horse trailer, but I was going the 45 mph speed limit.

Another racist: The Sound Off writer who continually writes that those who do not like President Obama hate blacks has got to be a black racist. It's quite obvious. There are many white politicians who are also disliked by whites, but that does not mean they hate all whites.

No one notified: The Grantville DDD announced in Depot Talk on Oct. 1 that it would be holding a political forum at the Grantville City Hall on Oct. 26 and that all candidates had been invited. Turns out neither the city manager nor staff knew anything about the event, and few — if any — candidates have been invited. Poor management or poor manners? Or maybe it is simply an event for the two Jim Sells’ candidates, Riley and Gomez?

Hard work: Good education provides opportunity, not necessarily a good job. Hard work provides the good jobs. If you want the gated communities and BMWs, work the 70-80 hours a week (at no extra pay) to get the high-paying jobs like the others that have risen to these positions. It is earned and not a handout.

Isakson has to go: Thank God Chambliss is leaving. Isakson has nothing in common with our conservative values. He tells us one thing when he wants our money, then votes with Obama. Simply put, he lies.

No compromise: The GOP lost the public opinion battle on the showdown. Nonetheless, it was the Democrats who refused to compromise. The GOP just wanted spending to be cut and everyone knows that is what is important.
