Get back to the Constitution
With all the anguish our government is causing the people, I seem to be crying in the wilderness, as most of my letters are not printed as you favor more benign thoughts.
I feel I am expressing the feelings of many when I say that something must be done to stop the selfish politicians from further ruining this once great country. What to do? We hear that we must vote out those now in office — Wow! That means giving them a retirement three times the size of the normal middle class income for the rest of their life. What do they care?
Take a shoestring salesman in your town, his name is, say, Bob. Bob is a church deacon and scoutmaster and mason and loving father and businessman who was asked to run for the U.S. Senate.
Within three months he has learned that he does not have to comply with the wishes of his constituents, that he will be paid forever, and he can sell his vote for millions. Who gave them the right to take so much for themselves, and who can we find to keep them straight?
Thomas Jefferson said that every once in a while Democracy must be renewed by the blood of Patriots. Must we fight them? Must we wander the streets forever in search of an honest man? We are losing our rights every day, and I am sure this letter, if printed, will receive a hard look by those who wish to further subjugate us. Let them come. It is time to erase the mess of laws passed by such corrupt bodies and get back to the simple truth of the Constitution that kick-started us to greatness.
