Make the minimum wage livable
For once I agree with the Republicans in that I believe we should cut back on government payments to welfare and food stamps. However, I feel this can only be done if we stop subsidizing employee cost to major corporations who make billions by exploiting workers, paying them wages at sub poverty levels, and leaving the taxpayer responsible to make up the difference in providing them with food and shelter.
Only a few years ago, a giant chain had a department whose sole purpose was to advise its employees on how to subsidize their wages through government programs. They stopped only after a union made it public knowledge.
I am amazed at the number of working-class people who are not only drinking the Right-Wing "Kool-Aid” but are also dispensing it to others. It would be interesting if we could "follow the money" to see who is funding all these Right-Wing wacko commercials. If you believe it is working class people, Ted Cruz has some ocean front property in Arizona he will sell you along with the rest of his mindless propaganda.
There are obviously a lot of working class people who wrongly believe that they are among the "Haves,” but if you lose your entire family income and cannot go a year without relying on government subsidies and without losing everything you own, I hate to be the one to break the news to you, my friend, but you are a "Have-Not."
Raise the minimum wage to a livable standard.
