Obamacare just needs tweaking
I consider myself an independent voter, with no allegiance to the Democrats or the Republicans. As such, I am saddened by the letter published several weeks ago from Representative Westmoreland in which he labeled the Affordable Care Act as a “complete” failure. Republicans had the opportunity to pass a health care law during the Bush administration.
They did not and now want us to believe they can quickly pass a better law. I know a college student who had to read the entire Affordable Care law and produce a report for college credit. The result was the law is the best hope for people to get affordable insurance. But, it was noted that the law needed to be tweaked in some areas.
Don’t let the Republican-biased opinions, labels, and fears manipulate you. The Affordable Care Act is not a “complete” failure when those with pre-existing conditions are allowed to get insurance. The law should be tweaked, not repealed.
If the Republicans want to repeal a law, they should try one of their own. A majority of states (37) have opted out of the No Child Left Behind law; so repeal it.
