Sound Off

Who’s doing the crime? Instead of trying to say our justice system is discriminating, look at the facts of who's doing the crime. Here, let me help you. Type in "FBI crime statistics" into your search bar, press "Enter." Yes, it's that easy.

Nothing has passed: The GOP has not obstructed anyone. Obama just does executive orders to bypass Congress. It is the Democrats that are void of leadership, headed by the vacation-and-chief, the messiah of the liberals, Barack Hussein Obama. What has the Democrat-led Senate passed lately?

Stay away: How much vacation time should Congress take? They should stay on unpaid vacation forever. They would get the same amount of work done as they do when in DC getting paid for pretending to work.

It must adapt: The Founders wrote the Constitution when America was mainly rural with a small population. They could never envision today's size/complexity/shift to urban life. Without food, shelter, clothing, employment, education, health care, etc., there is no life or pursuit of happiness — only liberty to die. The Constitution must adapt.

From the bible: If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day, but if you teach him how to fish, he will eat for a lifetime. All we are doing with welfare and food stamps is giving them a fish.

Give Columbus a break: The Columbus remarks are irritating. All the initial person meant by their comment was to say: By Columbus discovering America, it made it possible for people from other countries to embark upon the land. That’s it. My gosh, people, enough already.

Save your money: In response to "The Butler" on Aug. 23, Fonda is not portraying Clinton, she is portraying Nancy Reagan. I agree with you about not seeing the film and donating that money to WWP. To the Editor, you should have never posted this with incorrect information.

Buy American: When you complain to me that your wife, husband, children, or fiancé can't find a job and blame Obama for the problem as you climb into your Korean, Japanese, or German car and drive away while talking on your Chinese cell phone, please don't expect any sympathy from me. Buy American, it creates jobs here.

Obey traffic: Why are so many drivers ignoring safe and smart driving habits? Speeding through school zones, tailgating? Do they think they are above the law and the rest of us?

Guns or sex? I read where a kindergartener in Memphis took a loaded gun to school. It's ridiculous that the parents of this child was so irresponsible, but it brings up another question. Why aren't school systems as pro-active with gun safety as they are with sex education? Even though some of you berate the NRA, they do have an excellent program for teaching gun safety to children.

Fair treatment: If CNN, NBC and the rest of the mainstream media treated the Democrats the same way they treat Republican candidates with tough questions and skepticism, maybe it would be a loss not to have them included. Thanks, newspaper: Thanks, Newnan Times-Herald, for printing all Sound Offs, not just for certain people.

Becoming moderates: My congratulations to my friends Dennis Thompson and Keith Crosby. Both of your letters in Saturday's paper were right on the money and, for the very first time, I agreed with you both. Be careful or you might both become Moderates. Frankly, I enjoy your point-counterpoint discussions, although you do tend to become a little rabid at times.

RE: Where'd she go? Yes, former Powell library branch employee Linda Sue is a model worker. She is a model of professionalism, integrity, knowledge and dedication to duty. The taxpayers win with her working for them.
