Georgians not optimistic about the performance of Obama and economy
It’s not surprising, but a poll of Georgians done by InsiderAdvantage for Morris News shows about two-thirds of Georgians disapprove of the job President Obama is doing, and a majority of them feel their personal financial situation is worsening.Georgia is not Obama territory, thus a low approval rating could be expected, particularly when financial crises dominate Washington politics. Despite a rising stock market, there’s still a lack of economic optimism.
The Georgia telephone poll showed 61 percent of voters 18-29 years, 60.5. percent of blacks and 64 percent of Democrats agree with Obama, while all other demographic and political groups disapprove. The poll showed 71 percent of white Georgians disapprove of Obama’s work. None of those numbers should strike anyone as surprising. On the economy, a majority of every group except Democrats and blacks see things getting worse.
While Georgians are not optimistic about the president or the economy, who does this hurt politically? Obama will not have to face voters again. He cannot seek a third term in the White House. The numbers may be a warning sign for other political incumbents because unhappy voters tend to punish those in office. Maybe even incumbents in both political parties.
