A prayer for the Georgia Bulldogs

It has been described as the most important football game for the Georgia Bulldogs in 30 years.
It’s Saturday’s SEC Championship game between Alabama and Georgia at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The winner will advance to the BCS national championship game against Notre Dame in January.
A side note: The last time Georgia won the national championship was in 1980 when Coach Vince Dooley’s team beat Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.
Alabama is the favorite in the 4 p.m. game. The Crimson Tide is still regarded by many as the top college team in the country.
But Georgia Bulldog fans are hoping this is their year. They have had success under Coach Mark Richt but have never claimed that national title. Could this be the year?
Sometime around 7:30 p.m. Saturday the Dogs and the Tide will know their fate.
One will be looking forward to a date with the Irish, the other will be stuck with a much lesser bowl game come January.
The media has been swamped with pre-game hype all week.
Today, on the eve of the game, we offer this prayer to the Bulldogs which was distributed on the Internet this week and attributed to Rabbi Michael Bernstein of Alpharetta:

“May the One who guided Vince, Herschel and Buck Belue grant victory to their descendants and joy to those who follow them.

“Give counsel to Mark Richt, accuracy to Aaron Murray, strength to Gurshall and ferocity to the defense.

“Halt the momentum of our adversaries, say to them as you related to your servant Job, ‘The Tide shall come to here and no further.’

“And as for the Irish ... Well let’s deal with that when the time comes ... So may it be inscribed in the Book of Chronicles and Statistics (the BCS) and the records of the House of Dawg.”

Amen and Go Dogs.
