City of brotherly love
My family and I recently attended the funeral of Mrs. Iris Bullard in Newnan. We were very much impressed with the respect and courtesy displayed by the people of Newnan as the funeral procession proceeded along the route to the cemetery.Vehicles and pedestrians stopped, a public utility worker removed his hat, stood beside his truck and saluted, and a father and young son faced the route standing motionless. Police personnel were at strict attention.
While Mr. Bullard was indeed a fine southern lady, loved by all who knew her, it is believed that the citizens of Newnan possess the character, compassion and caring spirit to honor all individuals with such a memorial.
Thank you to the people of Newnan for maintaining an oft forgotten custom. You are a city of brotherly love.
