Help make Can-A-Thon most successful ever

For the past 29 years one of the most successful giving efforts in our community has been the annual Coweta Can-A-Thon to collect canned goods and other non-perishable food items for the Coweta Community Food Pantry.
This year’s Can-A-Thon culminates Tuesday with the public food drop-off day from 7 p.m. to 7 p.m. at sites on North Court Square in Newnan and in downtown Senoia.
The goal for this year’s can-a-thon is 300,000 food items or equivalent cash donations.
Already the students in the Coweta County School System – by far the biggest contributors to the effort – have held their food collection drives. They will be totaling up their counts by Tuesday.
In addition to the support of the school system, businesses, governments, other organizations as well as thousands of individuals each year have make contributions to the Can-A-Thon.
That combined community support is again needed this year. The number of requests for food is alarmingly high. The Coweta Community Food Pantry will serve at least 20,000 people before this year ends.
Support the Can-A-Thon, which is spearheaded by the Newnan Junior Service League. Bring you cans or other non-perishable items to the drop-off points on Tuesday or write a Can-A-Thon check to the Newnan Junior Service League. Those checks also can be dropped off on Tuesday.
Let’s make this year’s Can-A-Thon the most successful one ever.
