Happy Thanksgiving to all of 'us' in the U.S.

On this Thanksgiving Day we offer a simple message: The U.S. is “us” — all of us who live in this great country that is the land of the free and the home of the brave. For that we should all be thankful, even though we have political, religious and other differences.
Today, we remember all the men and women in our military services who are serving our country and helping to protect our freedom. God bless each and every one of you. We say thanks to all the other public safety workers and other workers here in our community and around the globe who are working on this Thanksgiving day to provide us the services and protection we often take for granted.
We say thanks for all of our blessings. Most of us enjoy an abundance of blessings, but we must never forget the needy and those less fortunate who are struggling. We offer a special thanks to all those who are helping the needy with food and other necessities during the holiday season and throughout the year.
Thanksgiving has become a day of traditions — food, family, fellowship and, in recent years, football. Today, as we gather around the table with family and friends, let’s indeed count our blessings. Let’s think of the wonderful times. Let’s share happy thoughts, optimistic plans and dreams with our family.
Today, even though we have differences and difficulties in our great nation, as we think of optimism let’s remember the words of President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated 49 years ago today: “Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.”
Happy Thanksgiving to all of “us.”
