Colorful leaves peak at our new state park

There is nothing more beautiful during the fall than the turning of the leaves. Typically, the latter part of October and November is the peak period the leaves show off their magnificent colors.
We checked with our Georgia State Parks’ Georgia Leaf Watch, and the word is many of the state parks in the higher elevations have reached the peak for the leaves splendor.
We asked officials of the Chattahoochee River Bend State Park on the western border of Coweta County about the leaves, and the word is the peak season has arrived. This would be a great weekend to visit the park in Coweta and get a glimpse of the fall color.
The Leaf Watch website Wednesday said, “We’re seeing fall color early this year, and parks at higher elevations are already at peak. However, strong winds from storms have been blowing leaves down quickly and some trees are now bare.”
The leaves blown down have created a colorful floor to the parks’ forest, which adds to the beauty if you are walking or hiking the parks.
Temperatures should be warming this weekend, and the strong winds are subsiding. Get out and enjoy the beauty of fall.
