Let's make Halloween a fun and safe time

Today is Halloween, a time for fun and frolicking by young people and not-so-young people.
Parents have been invited to bring their little ones to the downtown Newnan trick or treat activities from 10 a.m. to noon today. Merchants will be passing out goodies to the pre-school age children during this two-hour period. The daytime trick or treat fun in downtown Newnan has become a tradition and a grand opportunity for parents to allow the little ones a chance to enjoy the Halloween activities in the daytime hours.
In addition to the daytime activities downtown, there will be Halloween trick or treating in all of our neighborhoods this evening — plus other activities at churches and other places in the community. A lot of people — particularly our children — will be out and about this Halloween.
The safety of everyone should be foremost in our minds.
We encourage all motorists today in the downtown Newnan area and this evening throughout the community to drive carefully. Slow down, be on the lookout for people who may be walking and crossing streets and roadways.
Let’s make sure Halloween is a fun time and a safe time for all of us.
