Judge Homer Drake Jr., a special man reaches a special milestone

Anyone who knows him will tell you Judge W. Homer Drake Jr. is a very special person.
This special man, who calls Newnan home, was recognized last month for a remarkable achievement — 50 years of federal government service.
Judge Drake’s wife, Ruth, and sons, Walter and Taylor, joined him for the celebration, as did former law clerks and others who have worked with Drake during the years.
We reprinted a news story in Sunday’s paper about the recognition program for Judge Drake. That story included comments from the judge’s associates about this devoted public servant who has served his country so long and so well as a judge.
We read the comments in that story, and while there were many glowing tributes to this man, one comment stood out: “He has a way of making you feel important and needed. He is always quick with a smile that is genuine. He is simply a great person, a great man.”
Indeed, he is all that and more.
If you are in Judge Drake’s presence, he will make you feel important and needed. He will offer you a genuine smile. He is one of the most genuine people we have met.
Judge Drake, we join in saluting you on this milestone achievement. We thank you for all you have done as a federal employee, and we thank you for all you have meant to your family and this community through the years.
You are “a great person, a great man.”
