Let's win one for the Chipper

Will it be one and done? Or will the Atlanta Braves extend their 2012 playoff run and the career of future Hall of Famer Chipper Jones? Those two questions will be answered this evening.
If you are a Braves fan and wanted to sense the excitement of a do-or-die baseball playoff seventh game, your day has arrived.
When Major League Baseball added a second wild card team in the playoffs this year, the arrangement was the two wild card teams would play a one-game, winner-take -all, with the winning team advancing into the playoffs.
At 5:07 this afternoon, the Braves will battle the St. Louis Cardinals in that National League wild card playoff game. The loser’s season is over. The winner advances to play against the Washington Nationals in a division series beginning Sunday.
The seventh-game atmosphere is enough to excite Braves fans, but the game has even more meaning to Jones, who is ending his career after this season. If the Braves win tonight, Chipper plays again. If the Braves lose tonight, one of the greatest Atlanta Brave will play no more.
Chipper has said all season he wanted one more shot at the playoffs. He said this group of Braves is good enough to beat any team. Jones has been cheered by Braves fans throughout his career, but the cheers have never been louder than last weekend’s salute to the 40-year-old.
We hope Jones and the Braves take care of the Cardinals. We don’t want to say goodbye to Chipper until he gets another World Series championship ring.
