Bulldog fans trashy when they tailgate
Far too many University of Georgia fans can be a trashy bunch when they are tailgating before and after football games on the Athens campus. You may recall, about four years ago, the post-tailgating scene got so bad on the historic north campus that tons of strewn garbage had to be removed by workers on the Sunday following the games. At that time the north campus area looked much like a garbage dump after games.
Things got so bad university officials started limiting tailgating activities on north campus while urging fans to have greater respect for all of the campus where tailgating is allowed.
Things may have gotten better, but following Saturday’s win over the Tennessee Volunteers, we saw evidence trashy Dogs are at it again.
Saturday night at the end of the Tennessee game, many places in the center of the Myers quad were littered with trash. It was an embarrassing sight.
It was not as bad as the north campus fiasco of years past, but it was bad enough and clearly showed the disrespect fans have for the beautiful campus.
If Bulldogs fans — and maybe their guests — don’t do a better job of cleaning up their tailgating mess, university officials should again crack the whip.
