Main Street Newnan gearing up for 20th anniversary of Taste

We received this comment for Sound Off following our news story stating that Thursday’s Fall Taste of Newnan would no longer use tokens but would sell tickets for the 5-8:30 p.m. shindig around the Court Square in downtown Newnan: “Now that Main Street has decided to not use tokens, will those of us who saved our tokens from the last Taste be given a chance to redeem for tickets or just get ripped off?”
As the news story stated, “For anyone who has tokens from previous years, this is the time to cash them in for tickets. Token exchange will be allowed for this event only.”
So that’s the deal -- you will not be ripped off, but you must exchange your tokens at this upcoming event. You can buy tickets in advance at downtown merchants, and five ticket booths will be set up at the four corners of the Court Square and at the Kids Zone during the event.
This is the 20th anniversary of the Taste of Newnan, which as become one of the most popular downtown events of the year. It’s held twice a year -- in the spring and in the fall. Local restaurants and caterers sell food items during Taste, and there is music and other entertainment for adults and children.
A fall afternoon and evening is a great time to visit downtown Newnan and enjoy the food and entertainment. It’s an event with a family atmosphere.
