Special celebration Thursday for 30 determined Cowetans

One of our favorite programs in this community each year is the GED graduation.
It’s hosted by CLICK (Certified Literate Is Coweta’s Key), West Georgia Technical College and the Coweta County School District.
This program is special because it recognizes Coweta County residents who have returned to the classroom, taking adult education classes and earning the GED — the equivalent of a high school diploma.
These GED graduates have had to drop out of high school for various reasons, but they have been committed to gaining that much-needed diploma — which is just about mandatory to succeed in today’s work force. A person without the equivalent of a high school education is extremely limited in today’s job market.
This year’s GED graduation in Coweta will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts, off Lower Fayetteville Road. About 30 GED graduates will be honored. They will don caps and gowns and enjoy all the pomp and circumstance of other graduation programs.
We congratulate all of the graduates for their determination and their success in earning a GED. Your lives and the lives of your family will be better for this accomplishment.
