Charter schools supporter

I hope anyone who intends to vote against the charter school amendment does some serious investigation before he or she does so.
Perhaps visiting a local charter school to see what it’s like or talking to students at a local charter school or their parents would be a good idea.
You could learn a lot about why parents of all races, incomes and backgrounds are choosing to send their children to a charter school despite the fact their kids may have to wear a uniform. The parents may have to drive them to school, pack their lunches or volunteer a certain number of hours a year. There are a lot of reasons parents might choose to do this. For our family, making that choice was the best decision we ever made, despite any inconveniences. And we deserve the right to have a choice.
Our charter school is 1,000 times better for our child than the district school was. Our charter school is under local control — the control of a school board made up of parents, community members and teachers. Frequent surveys offer parents and students a voice. Our charter school is welcoming to everyone. We are a family. We are not exclusive. Come to one of our events and look at the variety of people you see. We receive no local tax money and will not get local funding after the amendment either.
Vote yes in November if you feel students deserve to have the best education possible in a school where they can thrive and parents should have the right to find and choose the best free public school based on their child’s needs rather than where they live.
Finally, there’s a reason that two charter schools exist and are flourishing in Coweta. Why do you think that is?
