Mrs. Norma Blair Williams, 84, passed away at her home in Moreland on June 12, 2009, after a long illness. Norma was born in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on December 18, 1924, to Arthur and Susanna Henrie Blair, both children of Mormon Pioneers. She moved to California with her family in 1937. She married John McLarty Williams 64 years ago on May 31, 1945, in Fullerton, California. They live in Ventura, Calif., until moving to Atlanta in 1946. Their final move was to the Williams' family farm in Moreland in 1979, where they have spent the last 30 years.
Norma spent her life doing for others. She was active in PTA, Cub Scouting, and numerous other groups during her life, including volunteering at the Adult Learning Center and Beaulieu Nursing Home in Newnan. She was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, currently attending the Moreland Branch.
Her viewing will be at her home in Moreland today from 4 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Old Atlanta Highway, next to the Newnan Country Club, Monday evening at 6 p.m. Burial will follow at the family cemetery in Moreland.
Nanny, as she is known to all, is survived by her husband, John McLarty "Papa" Williams of Moreland; daughters & spouses, Sherry & Ed Connell of Toomsboro, Ga., Connie & Tommy Craig of Moreland; daughter-in-law, Laura Williams of Acworth; 10 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; brother & spouse, Loren & Tina Blair of Wake Forest, N.C.; sisters, Glenna Reynolds of Sacramento, Calif., and Artie Shelton of Grand Terrace, Calif.; sister-in-law, Harriet Jensen of Cartersville, Ga.; nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
