Capt. Ronald F. Wassenberg Captain Ronald F. Wassenberg died June 2, 2009, and was born Nov. 15, 1938, to the late Leo & Claire Wassenberg. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Wassenberg, who died in 1980. Mr. Wassenberg attended college in Miami & later joined the Air Force & became a Load Master. He was taught by his father to fly at the early age of 15. He left the Air Force & went to work with Zantop Airlines. In 1962, he was hired by Delta Airlines where he made Captain at the age of 29. He took early retirement in 1996 after being there for 34 years. He soon realized that he missed flying & was hired by Orient Thai Airlines in Bangkok, Thailand. He remained there for 3 years & later went on to fly between England & Belgium for the next 3 years. These last 3 years he flew over in Dubai, W.A.E. He remained very active until his illness occurred. As long as he was flying, he was very happy. He was always very devout in his Catholic religion. No matter where his travels took him he found a church to attend. He will be greatly missed by his family & many friends all over the world. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Linda Wassenberg; daughters, September (Bob) Eason, Shade (Wiley) Robinson, Melanie (Stilly) McFadden; sons, Sam (Robin) Wassenberg, Todd Kendrick, Scott (Amy) Kendrick; grandchildren, Farh Robinson, Trammel Robinson, Renn Eason, Emey Eason, Anna-Leigh Eason, Nanny McFadden, Elizabeth McFadden, Stillman McFadden, Hollie Wassenberg, Alex Kendrick, MaCrae Kendrick, Kooper Kendrick; brother, Dick Wassenberg; and sisters, Sheila Harris & Sally Bembeneck. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. George Catholic Church, 771 Roscoe Road, Newnan GA 30263. Condolences may be expressed online at www.mckoon.com . There will be a Mass held for him at St. George Catholic Church on Saturday, June 6 at 11 a.m. Father Austin Fogarty will officiate.
