Mr. William Irvin Tillery, age 69, of Sharpsburg, died at his residence on Nov. 12, 2008. He was born in Manchester, GA, on Sept. 26, 1939, to the late Lloyd Ralph Tillery and Irma Vera Wadsworth Tillery. He was retired from the United States Navy, where he served his country for over 20 years. He was stationed in Pensacola, Cape Hatteras, Vietnam and Charleston, as well as serving aboard the USS Helena, USS Guardian, USS Everglades, USS R.E. Kraus and USS Saratoga. After military service he was a postal employee at the Whitesburg Post Office. Surviving are his wife, Sara Frances Haynes Tillery of Sharpsburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony Scott and Pearl Arlene Tillery of Newnan, David and Marsha Tillery of Newnan, Michael and Lisa Tillery of Newnan; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy Lynn and Tom Ellis of Sharpsburg; sister, Sue Tillery of Newnan; 8 grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Higgins Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Elliot and Rev. David Arrington officiating.
