Obituary

Mrs. Ellen Anderson Dollar of Newnan, Ga., passed away on July 28, 2008. She was predeceased by Joe T. Anderson Sr. and son, Terry Anderson. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, James R. Dollar Jr.; devoted daughter, Tish Anderson Nix and her "Buddy" Paul W. Nix, all of Newnan; loving grandson, Joe Anderson, his wife, Debi; great grandchildren, Hayley and Zane of Lilburn; brother, Everett Brooks and his wife, Sara, of Columbus, GA; stepchildren, Dan Dollar of Marietta, Ginger Dollar of Ashville, NC, Michael and Pam Dollar and their son Christopher of Lizton, IN; brother and sister-in-law, Hugh and Patty Anderson of Milledgeville, GA; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ellen enjoyed a long and happy life filled with family and friends. She worked for the city of Atlanta for many years. She was president of the Atlanta Policewoman's Association and retired as the secretary at Ed S. Cook Elementary School in 1978. Ellen and Joe raised their children in the Grant Park area before moving to Decatur then to Loganville after retirement. After 54 years of marriage, Joe passed way in 1996. Ellen moved to Newnan in 1999 to be near her daughter and son-in-law. There she met and married Jim Dollar and had some of the happiest times of her life. They traveled to many places, but her favorite place to go was to their home in Leesburg, FL, where she made and enjoyed many new friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 30 from 4-9 p.m. at the Higgins Hillcrest Chapel, 1 Bullsboro Dr., Newnan, GA. Graveside services and interment will be held at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Grayson, GA on Thursday, July 31, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Brother Thomas Jordan officiating.
