Mrs. Frances Mattox Christopher of Sharpsburg, Ga., passed away at her home on September 25, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Will P. Christopher Jr., and by her brother, Thomas Young Mattox Jr. She is survived by her children, Billy and Nancy Christopher of Sharpsburg, Ga., John and Diane Christopher of Sharpsburg, Ga., Frank and Mary Christopher of Sharpsburg, Ga., Zeb and Cynthia Christopher of Sharpsburg, Ga., and Carol Robertson of Newnan, Ga. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tony and Nicole Daniel of Newnan, Ga., James and Kelley Welden of Newnan, Ga., Randy and Ashley Lowe of Silverhill, Ala., Chad and Courtney Harrison of Ailey, Ga., Nick and Candace McCoy of Sharpsburg, Ga., Andy and Stacey Cooke of Athens, Ga., Rick and Samantha Lanzarone of Eatonton, Ga., Chris Robertson of Sharpsburg, Ga., Joseph Christopher of Sharpsburg, Ga., Thomas Christopher of Sharpsburg, Ga., Matthew Robertson of Atlanta, Ga., and nine great-grandchildren.
She was born on January 17, 1921, in Newnan, Ga., to T.Y. and Lucy Mattox. After attending West Georgia College and Erskine College, she worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She was an active member of Turin United Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer of the United Methodist Women. She was passionate about her family and about helping others. These traits led her to spend years working with the Coweta County Genealogical Society, to volunteer as a Pink Lady at Newnan Hospital, to serve as President of the Never Grow Old Club at First Baptist Church of Newnan, to start the Forever Young Club at Turin United Methodist Church, to sing with the Voice of Experience Choir at First Baptist Church of Newnan, and to serve as President of the AARP in Newnan.

The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home from 5:30-8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28. The funeral will be on Monday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. at Turin United Methodist Church. The Rev. Griff Jones and the Rev. Andrew Cooke will officiate. Interment will follow at Turin Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Coweta County Genealogical Society (CCGS), P.O.
