Mr. James "Mike" Brooks

Obituary

Mr. James "Mike" Brooks, age 63, of Newnan, Ga., passed away Feb. 5, 2012, at his residence. He was born on Nov. 12, 1948, to the late James E. Brooks and Mary E. Loner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Brooks; sister, Judy Fisher; and grandson, Tristen Brooks. Mike was a Vietnam veteran, serving as a sergeant in the U.S. Army.

He was a former U.S. Deputy Marshal, Chief of Police with Peachtree City, Security Officer for Kay Jewelers and Egleston Children's Hospital.

Survivors include his sons, Pat and his wife Carrie Brooks and Jon and his wife Cecilia Brooks; brother, Danny and his wife Vickie Brooks; and sister, Janice Blankenship; grandchildren, Cora, Mackenzie, Conner, Madison and Gracie Brooks; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. Rev. Gary Howard and Rev. Matt Moore to officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 8 from 5 until 8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, 2600 Virginia Ave. NW, Ste. 104, Washington, DC 20037.
