Mr. Eugene 'Gene' Ware

Mr. Eugene “Gene” Ware was received into this world on February 14, 1942, to Ulas B. and Lois Wimberly Ware in Newnan, Georgia. Gene joined Oak Grove Baptist at an early age and began developing his musical and vocal talents in the church under many spiritual leaders. After a prolonged illness, Gene departed this life for his eternal home on Monday, March 24, 2014. His parents and three other siblings preceded him in death.

From being a mischievous youngster staging pranks and telling jokes to his siblings and friends to being a passionate songwriter and talented pianist, Gene joyfully shared his God-given talents with many churches and choirs in the Coweta, Heard and Sumter County communities.

Gene started his working career during high school at the Newnan Hospital and then worked for many years at the Ford Motor Company before formally ending his employment in the 1990s. Gene was married to Julia M. Ware and to this union three children were born, Eugene F. (Daisy), Darryl Ware and Marcellus (Venita) Ware; and grandchildren (Anginone, Marci, & Mia).

Gene lived for many years in Americus, Georgia, where he worked diligently on his recovery and challenged himself and others to be positive examples of living productive and zestful lives. He established lifelong friendships with many, including those with Ms. Virginia Clark and Ms. Pearl Wright, who both were dear companions and caregivers during his last few months.

While in Americus, he taught Industrial Arts, furniture refinishing and wood crafting. Gene was passionate about Western movies and John Wayne. He loved comedy and laughter, and it was nothing for him to break out in song or crack a joke with a straight face when you’d least expect it.

Gene leaves behind to celebrate his life his siblings, Louise (Ben) Lynch, Mildred (Michael) Henderson, Walter (Catherine), Thomas (Naomi), Carl (Mary), Barbara (Gene) Brown, Evelyn Cox and Joyce Ware; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He will be missed in the flesh, but never forgotten in the spirit. Wake is Sunday, March 30, 2-6 p.m. at Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home, 182 Millard Farmer Industrial Blvd., Newnan, GA 30263; 770-253-1232.
