Mr. Joseph Wilbur Ethier

Mr. Joseph Wilbur Ethier, age 60, of Grantville, GA, died at Piedmont Newnan Hospital on Jan. 21, 2014.

He was born in Fairplay, Colorado, Feb. 16, 1953, to the late Charles Fredrick Ethier and Betty Pierce Ethier. He was also predeceased by his grandparents, Wilbur and Viola Pierce. He served in the United States Navy and later was the maintenance manager at the McIntosh Trails Rehabilitation Center in Barnesville. He was a genuine sports fan, especially of the Atlanta Braves. At one time he assisted with Coach Joe Pope at Newnan High School baseball team.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra Simmons Ethier of Grantville; daughters, Christina Leah Ethier and Elizabeth "Beth" Ethier Smith (Ashley), all of Newnan; brothers, Robert Ethier of Luthersville, Tim Ethier (Jennifer Robinson) of Newnan, Charles Fredrick Ethier Jr. of Palmetto, David Ethier (Lynda) of Griffin; grandchildren, Jacob Ashley Smith and William Ethier Smith. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 5 p.m. today, Jan. 23, at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel with Dr. George Dillard officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until service time.
