Mr. Charles 'Steve' Bruner
Mr. Charles 'Steve' Bruner was born in Panama City, Florida, on Feb. 7, 1948, to Quinton Dossie Bruner and Mary Slusher Bruner. He died peacefully in Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta, Ga., on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, of brain trauma caused by a fall on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
He graduated from University of Montevallo in 1970, then served in the United States Army 3rd Light Weapons Infantry until 1972. He remained in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1974. After active duty, Steve worked as an insurance adjuster for GAB for many years and then went on to do the same for several other companies. He retired in 2013.
Devoted to his family, Steve was married for 41 years to Sally Lee Bruner of Louisville, Ala. In addition to his widow, he is survived by his two children and their spouses, Blake Bruner and Jennifer Bruner of Richmond, Virginia, and Derek Bruner and Bonnie Bruner of Nashville, Tennessee. He is survived by his mother, Mary Bruner from Dothan, Ala. He is also survived by his sisters and their spouses, Dr. Martha Bruner Burdette and Wayne Burdette of Atlanta, Ga., and Mary Quinn Bruner Couch and James Couch of Trezevant, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his father, Quinton D. Bruner.

Services for Mr. Bruner will be held at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16. The family will receive friends and family from 9 a.m. until the service. A graveside service will be held at Louisville Methodist Church in Louisville, Ala., on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 2:30 p.m. CST. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in his name to The Humane Society, American Heart Association, or to The Mary Anne Manley House at Atlanta Medical Center, to whom we are so thankful, for their hospitality during our stay at the hospital.
