Mrs. Erma Spann Weathersby, 83, of Newnan, GA, formerly of Americus, GA, died Sunday, March 17, 2013. She was born April 20, 1929 in Haleberg, AL, to the late Marvin & Maydell Mattox Spann. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Rev. Nelson Weathersby.
Mrs. Weathersby was the consummate pastor's wife; she loved cooking and entertaining-which she did with ease and grace. She and her husband ministered to families across the South, serving congregations in Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, & Sumter County, GA where he retired from Rehoboth Baptist Church in 1991.
The memorial service is Wednesday, March 20, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Carroll officiating. Mrs. Weathersby will be buried beside her husband at Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date. The visitation is Wednesday afternoon from 1 until the service time at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home, 9250 Hutcheson Ferry Rd., Palmetto, GA 31268.

Survivors include daughter, Jean Lanier of LaGrange; sons, Michael N. Weathersby & wife Rise of Atlanta, Marty Weathersby & wife Angie of Newnan; sister, Myrtle Baker of Columbus; grandchildren, Jim Weathersby, Edward Lanier, Jenni Dowling, Alex Weathersby, Luke Weathersby, Jack Weathersby; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.
