Mrs. Desma Stokoe
Mrs. Desma Stokoe, age 69, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at Savannah Court in Newnan. She was born Feb. 4, 1944, in Greensboro, NC.
Desma was a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Social Work. She was a LCSW for several years and worked at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale and Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton as well as with several doctors in private practice. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert. R. Stone, and her mother, Dorothy Hinson.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Carl Stokoe; son, Phillip Stokoe of Tampa, Florida; daughter, Karen Stokoe Norris, her husband Stephen and grandson Zachary of Douglasville, Georgia; brother, David Hinson and his wife, Jean; sister, Jo Strawn and her husband, Terry.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 21, at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Douglasville, 6167 Prestley Mill Rd., Douglasville, GA 30134. The family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
