Mr. R. Dan Parrish, age 81, of Sharpsburg, Ga., passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. He was born in DeKalb County, GA on Oct. 9, 1931, to the late Selma Olin Parrish and Dixie Johnson Parrish. He was a Deacon Emeritus at the First Baptist Church in Newnan, a Mason with the Cascade Lodge #94 F&AM, a member of the White Oak Golden K Kiwanis Club, and a member of the South Metro Wood Turners Club. He also served in the Navy Reserves for 8 years.
Mr. Parrish is survived by his loving wife, Barbara S. Parrish; daughters, Kay and husband Gary Hawkinson, Diane and husband Tom Woodward, and Jann and husband Kevin Bradford; sister, Mollie Barrow and husband Thurman; and grandchildren, Emily and Abby Hawkinson, Joshua and Caleb Bradford.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Newnan. Dr. Jimmy Patterson and Rev. Jerry Walker officiating. Burial will be private at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park, GA. Visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 17 from 3 until 5 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.
