Mr. Robert Tau Gunby Sr. of Sharpsburg, Georgia, died at his residence on Jan. 30, 2013. He was 93.
He was born in Wilcox, Florida, on April 14, 1919, to Rev. Hammond Robert Gunby and Ada Morgan Gunby. Robert served in World War II in France in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and then earned a degree in Animal Husbandry from the Univeristy of Georgia, where he was inducted into the academic honor society.
In 1961, he was selected Man of the Year in Agriculture for Coweta County and awarded honors for 4-H Leadership.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Norma Bunell Gunby, and his sister, Karis Gilder Lewis.
He is survived by his sons, Robert T. Gunby Jr. MD and wife Elizabeth of Dallas, Texas, Cecil D. Gunby and wife Judy of Sharpsburg and Kenneth H. Gunby and partner Paul Bickerstaff of Jacksonville, Florida. He is also survived by his sister, Theta Strickland; grandchildren, Kathryn Cline and husband Briggs, Robert T. Gunby III and wife Lauralee, and Melanie Conner. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Briggs and Sarah Cline, Judson, Ellagrace and Marshall Gunby, and Adam, Grant and Benjamin Conner.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon to 2 p.m.
