Mr. James A. McManus, age 93, of Newnan, GA, died Jan. 8, 2013. Mr. McManus was born in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of the late Joseph and Eleanor McManus.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Allen and her husband Brett of Newnan; his grandchildren, Therese Coleman, Matthew Gailey and Brittany Allen; and his great-grandchild, Katherine Shepherd. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Jeanette McManus; and nieces and nephews, Mack, Juanita, Cindy, Sandi, Rusty, Kippy, and Edward.
Mr. McManus was a Bronze Star recipient from World War II and retired from Bendix Aviation Corporation. Following retirement he spent his days with the love of his life, the late Lovella McManus, on the farm they owned in Grantville, where they enjoyed raising Appaloosa horses and spending time with their family. Mr. McManus loved and cherished spending time with his grandchildren and his great-grandchild.
Funeral arrangements are by McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, where the family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be a rosary at 7 p.m. in the McKoon chapel. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. It is requested that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made in Mr. McManus’ memory to St. George Catholic Church, 711 Roscoe Road, Newnan, GA 30263.
