Mrs. Ruby Irene Roberts Rigsby, age 89, of Newnan, GA, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012 at her residence.
She was born Oct. 30, 1923, in Meriwether County, daughter of the late Grady Roberts and Sophie Quigley Roberts.
She enjoyed quilting, upholstery, and crocheting, and was a member of the Cross Plains Baptist Church.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Virgil Wilson Rigsby; brothers, Ralph Roberts and Roger Roberts; sisters, Jane Gaddy and Charlene Nalley; half brother and sister, H. G. & Frances Collier.
Survivors include her children, Linda and Sherman Strickland of Winston, Randy and Retha Rigsby of San Angelo, TX, Timothy and Paulette Rigsby and Kenneth and LeAnne Rigsby, all of Newnan; sister, Mildred Handley of Whitesburg; brothers, David Roberts and Jackie Roberts both of Newnan; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Bro. Rick Bowen officiating; assisted by Bro. Kenneth Rigsby, and Bro. Greg Strickland.
Music will be rendered by Lydia Teal, Rebecca Rigsby, Hannah Rigsby, Alicia Strickland, Brooke Strickland, Angie Bowen, and Hope Bowen.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Tim Rigsby, Randy Rigsby, Greg Strickland, John Rigsby, Ronnie Rigsby and Tim Boatright.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sherman Strickland, Austin Strickland, Hudson Bowen, Matthew Rigsby, Noah Rigsby, Norman Kittle, Mike McBride, Jansen McBride, Brice Shupp, Chris Rigsby, Nathan Kittle, and Cody Lanning.
Interment will follow in Cross Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from noon until 2 p.m.
