Mr. Benjamin G. Parks
Mr. Benjamin G. Parks, age 80, of Sharpsburg, GA, passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012. He was born in Gillsville, GA, to the late James Hoyt Parks Sr. and Dona Welborn Parks.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Horace and Swayne Parks; and sister, Jeanette Whitmire.
Mr. Parks served in the U.S. Army with the military police during the Korean War and later retired from the City of Atlanta Police Department after 35 years. After retiring he also served as Chief of Police for Peachtree City, Palmetto and the City of Morrow, and finally retired from law enforcement with 43 years of distinguished service.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joanne Parks; son, Michael Parks; granddaughters, Caileigh Parks of Senoia and Amber Parks of Sciotoville, OH; and brother, Hoyt Parks of Gainesville, GA.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Dec. 22 at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pastor Jeff Smith will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 21 from 5 until 7 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, GA 30263; 770-253-4580.
