Mr. Harold Edward Hancock of Palmetto, GA, passed away Dec. 18, 2012.
Mr. Hancock also was known by his friends as Eddie, Ed and Peabody. He is survived by his wife, Louise Hancock of Palmetto, GA; and seven children — two sons, Ricky Hancock of Sharpsburg, GA, and Jeff Hancock and wife Jill of Sharpsburg, GA; five daughters, Vicki Winkles and husband Tommy of Sharpsburg, GA, Lynn Beasley and husband Jim of Franklin, GA, Tracey Hancock of Newnan, GA, Janet Hancock and boyfriend Hans Larsen of Des Plaines, IL,Dawn Henson and husband JW of Newnan, GA; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Edward has one surviving sister, Eve Eskew and husband Steve of Carrollton, GA.
Most just knew him as a humble truck driver who never met a stranger he didn’t stop and visit with. He was known across the ribbons of the highway, on the CB airwaves as “The Town Drunk,” though he was not a drinker.
Edward was an active member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
A visitation service will be held on Friday night, Dec. 21, from 5-8 p.m. at Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, GA. A service will be held Saturday morning, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m., also at Parrott Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Howard Alexander and Rev. Donald Lee officiating.
