Mrs. Shirley J. Helton, age 77, of Newnan, GA, died at Piedmont Newnan Hospital on Nov. 28, 2012.
She was born in Coweta County on July 27, 1935, to the late William L. Taylor and Ruth Davis Taylor.
She was a seamstress for many years at Playtex Apparel, Inc. She loved all beautiful flowers and watching all the different kinds of birds.
Mrs. Helton was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son and grandson, Tennis Helton and Bruce Helton; granddaughter, Renee Helton; sister, Lucile O’Neil.
Surviving are her husband, Edward (Ed) Helton of Newnan; sons, Jerry Helton (Renatha), Terry Helton (Jenny), Eddie Helton (Barbara), Ted Helton (Glenda), and Johnny Helton (Beverly); brother, Rudolph Taylor; sisters, Shelby McMichael (Cecil), Virginia Smith, and Annette Coggin; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the funeral home with Rev. Adam Grant officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Friday, 6-8 p.m.
