Mrs. Ruby Jackson Stephens
Mrs. Ruby Jackson Stephens, a lifelong resident of Coweta County, passed peacefully from this life on Nov. 25, 2012. She was born June 21, 1923, and was the daughter of Earl and Corilla Jackson.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Emit Claude Stephens; a daughter, Linda Stephens Baxley; a granddaughter, Lynn Baxley; a grandson, Steven Baxley. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Stephens Hosey; and a son, Alan Stephens. Her grandchildren are Kaye Baxley (and Kenneth) Lamb of Guyton, GA, and Chris (Powell) Hosey of Thomaston, GA. Great-grandchildren who blessed her life are Mary Beth Hosey, Meredith Lamb, Leslie Lamb, Brian Lamb and Julianne Hosey.
Mrs. Stephens possessed a nurturing, servant spirit that served her well for the many years she worked as a nurse and later as a volunteer at Newnan Hospital. Her friendships with staff that carried for the rest of her life included a co-worker, Frances Pollard of Senoia. Outside of her work at the hospital, she was never one to say no when her help was needed, if her skills could be of use.
Her family would like to thank Carolyn Fincher, who was with her almost every day, and the rest of her friends and supporters from Welcome Road Baptist Church. Their attention to her in presence and in prayer was invaluable in allowing her to remain in her family's care during these last two months. The family also has profound appreciation for Angels of Hope for their continuous help and support.
The funeral arrangements are by McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street in Newnan. Visitation with the family is Tuesday evening, Nov. 27 between 6 and 8 p.m. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m. in the McKoon Funeral Home chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Dan Odom and Reverend Ken Norton. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or those who wish to remember her by gifts to a charity may do so by memorial contributions to Angels of Hope, 1605 Vernon Rd., Suite 1000, LaGrange, GA 30240.
