Mr. Cecil Taylor
Mr. Cecil Taylor, 88, retired meat packing supervisor, passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2012. Funeral is 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 in Mount Olivet Funeral Home chapel. Interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Mount Olivet Funeral Home, Ft. Worth, Texas.
Cecil Taylor was born Aug. 16, 1924, in Childress. He served as a sergeant in the 740th Tank Battalion during WWII, where he was awarded a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and the Presidential Unit Citation. He settled in Fort Worth and worked for Armour Meat Packing Co., where he met and married Jessie Marlatt in 1949. One son and three grandchildren followed. Cecil retired in 1987. He has been a member of Haltom Road Baptist Church since 1955. The Taylors moved to Newnan in 2005 to be closer to family.
Survivors are son, Gary and wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Joseph, Sarah and Dana and their spouses; great-granddaughters, Abbygail and Marissa; great-grandson, Paxton; sister-in-law, Wanda Husbenet; and brother, Alvin Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.
