Ms. Terri Ann Anthony, 43, of Punxsutawney, PA, passed away on Sept. 26, 2012, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital following a brief illness.
Born on May 11, 1969, she was the daughter of LeRoy and Betty Anthony, and the late Ms. Charlene Anthony.
She graduated Punxsutawney Area High School in 1987.
Terri worked for many years as a lay-midwife and delivered upwards of 2,700 babies throughout Pennsylvania, Georgia and Alabama. In Pennsylvania, Terri worked closely with the Amish community where she learned her trade, tending to the needs of expectant mothers and delivering their children.
Recently she was also a loving caretaker of the elderly as well as special-needs adults. Terri was a free spirit and was absolutely unique in every way. She loved nature and spending time outside where you could usually find her kayaking, hiking, gardening, camping, or cooking. Her smile, laugh, and her love for others, especially her family, are deeply engrained in those who knew her.
Terri is survived by her children, Benjamin Anthony and Jocelyn McConnaughey of Newnan, GA; her sister, Dawn Anthony Hein of Punxsutawney, PA; her nieces, Lindsay and Alyssa Hein of Punxsutawney, PA; and other family members and friends, John Rieder of Grantville, GA, David, Jason, and Sarah Rieder of Newnan, GA, Molly Hollis of Punxsutawney, PA, and William Woodell of Newnan, GA.
Friends and family were received on Monday, Oct. 1 for viewing and visitation and the funeral was held on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Both were held in Punxsutawney, PA. For Terri’s Georgia and Alabama friends, a memorial gathering will take place on Sunday, Oct. 7 from 7-9 p.m. at Something Special, 83 Greenville St., Newnan, GA 30263. Memorials may be made to the family for funeral expenses as well as Gentiva Hospice Care of Newnan, GA.
