Two city council races will be on the elections ballot in Grantville on Nov. 3.
On Friday, the last day of municipal elections qualifying, Councilman Nick Sasso qualified for his seat, and Marion Cieslik qualified to challenge Councilwoman Rochelle Jabaley.
Sasso is being challenged by Selma Coty, a former mayor who qualified Monday.
No additional candidates qualified Friday in Senoia. Mayor Robert Belisle is unopposed for a third term. Councilmen Larry Owens and Jeff Fisher were joined by Harry Ramos in the race for two council seats. Senoia voters will pick two of the three, and the seats will go to the top two vote-getters.
The other contested race in Coweta County is for mayor of Sharpsburg. Councilwoman Polly Garlington resigned her seat on the council to run for mayor. She is challenged by former Mayor Wendall Staley. Two years ago, Staley qualified to run for council instead of seeking re-election as mayor and was defeated by Garlington.
Garlington's council seat will be filled by Celene Davenport. Councilmen Keith Rhodes and Gordy Anderson are unopposed.
In Turin, Council members Amanda Brack and George Harris received no opposition; neither did Mayor Alan Starr.
Newnan's incumbents, Mayor Keith Brady and councilmen Ray DuBose and Rhodes Shell, didn't receive opposition. Neither did Moreland Aldermen Jeff Burgess, Myron McLain and Dick Ford.
Write-in candidates have until Sept. 11 to file and publish a notice to run as a write-in candidate.
